Blacktip Dragons were the sixth released dragons of the one week long "7th Birthday" release on Dragon Cave. Every single day from May 22, 2013 - May 28, 2013 a new dragon was released to the cave.

Adult
"Blacktip dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female."

Appearance/Basic Anatomy
- Tough, leathery skin with dull white scales.
- Small, forward-facing blue eyes.
- Horns covered in a hard blue-grey material.
- Scent glands around the neck, feet, and tail that release a pungent chemical for scent-marking (as well as pheromones).
- Populations that breed in more northern areas tend to be larger and heavier than temperate individuals.
Hatchling Behavior
- Begin hunting and fishing mere days after hatching.
- Get along fairly well with other hatchlings, though the females quickly establish a pecking order.
- Males are already smaller and meeker starting from the first few months of hatching.
- Sleep in crevices and burrows at night.
Adult Behavior
- Females constantly vie for superiority, and are quite aggressive towards one another.
- Males are usually submissive and try to placate the dominant female with food offerings.
- Subordinant females do not usually breed in the wild, as the dominant female’s oppressive behavior and pheromones prevent them from ovulating.
- The entire group takes care of the dominant female’s offspring.
- In the wild, a dominant female will crush the eggs of subordinant females that somehow manage to breed.
- They are strong swimmers, though not capable of taking off from the water.
- Most breeding occurs during the summer.
- Mostly hunt by diving for fish.
Habitat
- Live in coastal areas with rocky cliffs for breeding.
- Tolerant of a very wide range of temperatures, from arctic to tropical.
Diet
- The bulk of their diet is fish.
- Will also consume land animals and carrion.
- Seaweed and grass occasionally consumed.
