Gold Dragons are one of the oldest dragons on the site, released shortly after the website's widespread discovery. They are very rare and highly sought after by many Dragon Cave members. Difficult to find in either the cave or on the abandoned page, these dragons are the subject of many lineages and projects. They do not have a breed specific action. Moreover, TJ09 said they never will, as he does not want to make already rare dragons even more desirable.
Gold Dragons are rarely dropped in the cave because they are often being bred. They are also often the object of gifting and trading among Dragon Cave users.
Because of their popularity, TJ09 has made a joke page referencing Gold Dragons. It can be found here. This page is linked to when a user puts in "makeallmyeggsgold" after dragcave.net in the address bar. The following text is: "Yeah right."
On January 1st, 2012, the Golds received a sprite update, gaining dimorphism, new poses, and shading. Celebrating the Year of the Dragon and our new year TJ decided to release them. Roughly 4-5 years ago in the Sprite Replacement sub forum these sprites were publicly and actively worked upon. According to the attached poll 800+ votes to replace with 100-+ against and less than 100 null votes. Upon completion of the sprites the thread was trashed and they remained in Nakase's gallery thereafter. The female gold sprite received a Daily Deviation award from Deviantart on April 9th, 2009.
Fun Fact: Golds have had five sprite changes, the most changes out of any other dragon on the site.
