Horse Dragons were released on the 24th of August 2009 alongside Deep Sea, Neotropical, Water Walker and Waterhorse Dragons. They share their egg description with Skywing Dragons, Frilled Dragons (which are discontinued) and Ochredrakes, but all three eggs each drop in their own habitat. Horse dragons are considered common and currently have no breed specific action. The sprite set was originally created by Silvanon very early in Dragon Cave's history. In 2009, a small group of spriters composed of LadyLyzar, Kila and Marrionetta went about updating the sequence to match current Cave standards.

Since the "7th Birthday" release Hellhorse Dragons can be optained by breeding Horse Dragon and Hellfire Wyvern.

"Horse dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill."
