Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

This egg smells musty, like rotting leaves.

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes hiding under dead leaves and attacking your ankles when you pass by.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes hiding under dead leaves and attacking your ankles when you pass by.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Olive dragons are a small, forest dwelling breed, rarely growing much larger than the average sheep. When alarmed, they can erect a long row of venomous spines on their back, serving to warn any potential predators that Olives are not a good choice for a meal. While not strong enough to kill anything larger than a small deer, their venom causes an extremely painful reaction and necrosis at the site of the wound, sometimes causing the flesh to rot and limbs to fall off.

Appearance/Basic Anatomy

  • Long-bodied with relatively short legs.
  • Cannot control the amount of venom injected from fangs or spines; dry bites and stabbings do occur.
  • Coloration becomes somewhat brighter in the spring and fades in the autumn.
  • Relatively fearless, even in the face of much larger creatures.
  • Immune to the venom of their own species.
  • Semi-arboreal, often nesting in both large, hollow trees and deep burrows.

Hatchling Behavior

  • Voraciously hunts small animals such as rats and mice.
  • While hatchlings produce much less venom than adults it is no less potent.
  • Spines are flexible until the dragon reaches adulthood.
  • Hatchlings tend to band together for protection and separate once they reach sexual maturity.
  • In captivity, become strongly attached to their human owner but become more aloof as they age.

Adult Behavior

  • Solitary as adults, although a pair may stay together for a short period of time after breeding.
  • A receptive female communicates her willingness to breed to a male by holding her tail off to the side and her spines against her body.
  • Eggs are often buried under piles of rotting vegetation.
  • Define large territories which may overlap.
  • Remain playful even as adults.

Habitat

  • Found in deciduous forests.
  • Seem to prefer temperate areas with a high annual rainfall.

Diet

  • Hunts animals such as deer, rabbits, and larger birds.
  • Occasionally seen launching themselves from trees onto unsuspecting animals.
  • Rely on stealth and a quick pounce to catch prey.
