Seawyrm Pygmies were released on May 21, 2011 for Dragon Cave's 5th Anniversary. They were released alongside the Crimson Flare, Misfit, Mistlet and Nilia pygmies. Like all pygmies, their eggs cannot be bitten by Vampire Dragons and they can only breed with other pygmies or Pumpkin Dragons.

Under the old Breed sort, these dragons sorted as "Pygmy-Seawyrm" on a user's scroll, between Nilia Pygmies and Pyralspite Dragons. As of August 14, 2016, they now sort using their Encyclopedia name.

Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

"This tiny egg shines like a pearl."

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. As soon as it hatched it headed to the sea.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. As soon as it hatched it headed to the sea.

And look! It lost its fins and grew wings instead. It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Seawyrm Pygmies are little dragons that live by the ocean, coasting on the winds above and diving down straight into the water whenever they spot a choice fish. Before their wings grow in, they spend the majority of their time in the sea, their tail fin extending over halfway up their bodies and allowing them to maneuver quickly and easily through the reefs. As they age, they give up some of their maneuverability in the water as that fin recedes into a tail fin better suited for flight. When a Seawyrm Pygmy finds a mate, they will perform synchronized dives together before burying their eggs in the shallow sands, where their eggs can hatch protected from larger predators.

Breed replacement[]

Seawyrm retired concept

Seawyrm Pygmy as seen in the Encyclopedia, prior to replacement.

The Seawyrm Pygmy was replaced with a re-conceptualized version on May 8, 2021. Citing detestable and discriminatory views and conduct by the original artist, Dragon Cave removed all dragon breeds created by the artist and replaced them with new concepts and art. A total of 10 breeds were replaced in this update. An official statement by site administrator TJ09 can be found on the forums.
