Striped Dragons were released on April 22, 2009, alongside Balloon, Daydream, Dorsal, Pink, Sunrise, Sunset and Whiptail Dragons. The Black variant was added to the site on March 16, 2011, alongside the Pillow and Swallowtail Dragons. Striped Dragons share their egg description with the Spitfire Dragon, though they are found in different biomes.
The white variant of this dragon is often referred to as its "default color" due to being the only color that can be obtained from the cave; this variant can also be obtained through breeding. The other colors can only be obtained by breeding a Striped Dragon with other particular dragons that have strong colorations themselves.
All Striped x Striped pairs will produce a random color. There is no guarantee that breeding a Striped Dragon with another Striped Dragon of a given color will produce offspring of the same color. Some non-Striped dragons can produce multiple color variants when bred with a Striped Dragon, and which color is produced is random.
Official descriptions[]
Egg[]
This egg has brightly colored markings on it.
Hatchling[]
Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. It spends its time pouncing on insects.
Mature hatchling[]
Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. It spends its time pouncing on insects.
And look! It's grown its wings! It must be close to maturing and it is now covered in brightly colored stripes.
Adult[]
Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors, complimented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the dragon is usually determined by the dragon's mate.

Encyclopedia entry[]
Appearance/Basic Anatomy
- They have bright yellow-gold stripes.
- Striped dragons come in multiple colors, based off of their non-striped parent’s coloring.
- Their scales feel smooth, but each seems to refract light independently.
- Striped dragons wings have a single flange and a thumb.
- Their eyes are always gold in color.
- They have three toes and a dewclaw.
- Their wings are the same yellow-gold as their stripes on one side, and the same color as their base color on the other.
- The inside of their ears is the same yellow-gold as their stripes, stretched between the back of the jaw and a scale-covered horn.
Hatchling Behavior
- Hatchlings are playful, but not particularly quick.
- Young dragons have an exploratory attitude, with much of their focus being toward food.
- There is a hierarchy based on age.
- They only start leaving the nest when their stripes start to show.
- Young with brighter stripes tend to push around hatchlings with duller stripes.
- They don’t appear to enjoy flying much.
- If they spend time flying or running, it takes a long time for them to recover.
- Even when provoked, they try not to fight with other hatchlings.
Adult Behavior
- Most of a mature dragon’s time is spent eating.
- They do not like to move around very much.
- Group or herd based social behaviour.
- While they live in groups, individuals need their own territory for feeding.
- Wings are used to increase surface area for sunning.
- While they can fly, it takes a long time for them to recuperate afterwards.
- They rely on external heat for much of their energy.
- If unable to escape a predator, a group of striped dragons will gather together to attempt to overwhelm it.
Habitat
- They are most frequently found in wooded areas, including forests and jungles.
- They live in groups.
Diet
- Their primary means of catching bugs is basking with their mouth open.
- They ordinarily settle in a location with fallen logs or leaf coverage so they can easily find grubs and worms.
- If bugs are scarce, they consume bee hives, wasps nests, and bark from trees to try and find them.
- Grass, fallen leaves, roots and bark supplement their diet.
- One of the few times they move quickly is to snatch moths and butterflies from the air.
- Stinging or biting insects seem to have no effect on them—they happily consume bees, wasps, and fire ants.
- They can have a very destructive effect on their immediate environment, being reluctant to move to new locations.
- A Striped Dragon’s tongue is sticky, which—combined with their sweet-smelling breath—makes eating easier.
Trivia[]
- Under Breed sort, Striped Dragons sort using their Encyclopedia name. Within the breed, the order of the variants is White, Blue, Red, Green, Black.
- During the first few hours of the initial release, it was possible to catch Blue, Red and Green Striped Dragons from the cave. This glitch was soon fixed and all caveborn eggs were turned White.
- Up to a couple of weeks after their release, Golden Wyverns would produce Blue Striped eggs when paired with a Striped Dragon.
- Before the Dimorphism update on March 26, 2010, both genders of this dragon appeared as the male sprite.
- Canopy and Nocturne Dragons produced White Striped eggs through breeding, but were later assigned colors.
- Before The Change, breeding a Ribbon Dancer to a Striped Dragon would result in a White Striped egg, but it now has the potential to result in a Green Striped egg. It is unknown if green is now the only result possible from this breeding pair.[citation needed]
