Blizzard Wizards[1] (previously Winter Magis), or Holiday 2011 Dragons, are the all-male Holiday dragons released during the Holidays of 2011. As a limited-release dragon, they are only capable of producing more Blizzard Wizard eggs during a brief period when the Holidays are celebrated in December. They can still be bred to all year round, producing the female's breed of egg. Each scroll is limited to 2 cave-born dragons of this breed, like all other Holiday dragons.
Official descriptions[]
Egg[]
This colorful egg is covered by a light layer of snow.
Hatchling[]
Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.
Mature hatchling[]
Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Adult[]
Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Encyclopedia entry[]
Appearance/Basic Anatomy
- Slender-bodied dragons with shiny white and gold scales, banded in places with red and green. The scales are very fine and have a reflective sheen up close.
- The eyes are large, dark blue, and have vertically-oriented oval pupils. They have a nictitating membrane that can cover their eyes in especially intense snow, and is remarkably clear.
- Their wings are flexible, and especially strong, to allow for long-term flight in cold air. Most of their red and green markings cover a portion of the underside of the wing.
- From above, these dragons appear almost entirely white, aside from the tail. Their vibrant colors are most visible from below.
Hatchling Behavior
- Hatchlings are very active right out of the egg, and are more tolerant of warmer temperatures than adults.
- When first hatched, they are covered in insulating protofeathers.
- The protofeathers are molted a final time as they reach adolescence and never regrow, revealing their scales and allowing their wings to emerge.
- Their need for cold temperatures begins after this molt, and fledglings unable to find a cold environment will suffer from heat exhaustion.
- Hatchlings are extremely curious and friendly, and easily trained or taught.
- Lost hatchlings that encounter humans tend to fearlessly approach them and may attempt to climb on them. As their claws are fairly sharp, dissuading them is recommended.
Adult Behavior
- Adults are almost exclusively seen when the temperature is cold out, and tend to conjure snowfall wherever they go.
- Extremely skilled and versatile magic users with an impressive command over magic, especially beneficial spells and conjuring cold weather.
- However, their magic has a byproduct of raising their body temperature to a dangerous degree, and so these dragons are rarely seen without an intense winter storm around them.
- Kindhearted, and go out of their way to help and guide those who are lost. They will not hesitate to defend someone from harm, especially those who can’t protect themselves.
- Often form lifelong bonds with one to three other dragons. These other dragons may be mates, or simply close friends.
Habitat
- These dragons can be found anywhere that the temperatures drop low enough for at least three months of the year.
- In areas that are not cold year-round, they will go dormant in frigid underground lairs until the temperatures begin to drop again.
- These dragons decorate their underground nests with frozen leaves and berries, trinkets they’ve found or received, and soft furs from prey.
- Hatchlings are usually kept in their lair, but in areas where the adults go dormant, unfledged hatchlings may wander out while their parent sleeps.
- In cold climates, these dragons are active all year round, and can be sought out in mountainous glaciers and the polar regions for their advice and skills.
Diet
- These dragons are omnivorous, and tend to eat a balanced diet of fruit, greens, and some meat.
- Pelts from furred prey are often preserved and taken home.
- These dragons prefer not to hunt, however, and will often offer their services to humans or other dragons in return for prepared foods.
- Baked goods are an especially desired treat, but these dragons do not digest milk well and will generally avoid anything that contains too much.
Trivia[]
- Under the legacy breed sort, these dragons sort as "Christmas 2011 Dragon" on a user's scroll. As of August 14, 2016, they sort using their Encyclopedia name of "Holiday Dragon (2011)".
Breed replacement[]
The Blizzard Wizard replaced the Winter Magi on May 8, 2021. Citing detestable and discriminatory views and conduct by the original artist, Dragon Cave removed all dragon breeds created by the artist and replaced them with new concepts and art. A total of 10 breeds were replaced in this update. An official statement by site administrator TJ09 can be found on the forums.
